The  Fairfield  County Veterans Service Commission

The Veterans Service Commission is a five (5) member board composed of five (5) veterans, representing the following Service Organizations: The American Legion, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Disabled American Veterans (DAV), The American Veterans (AMVETS), and one At-Large representing the Military order of the Purple Heart of the USA, The Vietnam Veterans of America, or The Korean War Veterans Association.

They are appointed by the Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for a term of five (5) years. The appointments are rotated so that a new Commissioner is appointed each year. On or before the fifteenth day of October of each year, the appointing judge shall notify each congressionally   chartered veteran’s organization within Fairfield County that they may submit a list of three recommendations of eligible veterans to be appointed to the open position.

The Veterans Service Commission operates under the Ohio Revised Code (ORC), Title 59, and the Commissioner’s duties are stated under section 5901.03.
